The hulking concrete supports are all that remain of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's rolling stock repair facility in Pigtown. Built in 1917, a fire destroyed the building in 1963. Once part of the B&O's sprawling Mt. Clare Shops and Yards, which employed many who lived in the neighborhood, by the mid-1970s, the shops were closed. The remains of the repair facility now mainly serve as a backdrop, both for those walking past and as one of the locations where scenes from HBO's Baltimore-based series "The Wire" were filmed.
